China’s Aircraft Refueling Trucks Gain Global Traction with Core Export Advantages
BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) – China’s aircraft refueling trucks are increasingly making their way to global markets, winning recognition from airports across Asia, Africa and Central Asia with their independent innovation, customized solutions and cost-effectiveness. Backed by national policies and a complete industrial chain, these specialized vehicles are becoming a new calling card of China’s high-end equipment exports.
Independent R&D capability stands as the core competitive edge of China’s aircraft refueling trucks. Domestic manufacturers such as Shanghai Chengfei Aviation Special Equipment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Aviation Fuel Group, have made breakthroughs in key technologies, developing products with full independent intellectual property rights. For instance, the newly developed Generation C pipeline refueling truck has successfully completed joint drills with China’s homegrown C919 large jetliners, verifying its high compatibility and marking a milestone in China’s independent aviation fuel supply system. Another flagship product, the 65,000-liter tank refueling truck, the largest of its kind independently developed in China, boasts upgraded automation, intelligence and safety features, meeting international operational standards while adapting to user habits.
Customized services tailored to regional needs further enhance China’s export competitiveness. Manufacturers fully consider local laws, operating environments and user habits when designing products for overseas markets. For Central Asian clients, vehicle documents are translated into Russian and English, and personalized modifications such as flow meter replacement and pipeline matching are made to ensure compliance and adaptability. For African countries like Angola and Cambodia, manufacturers have adjusted vehicle chassis standards to match local fuel quality, solving practical application challenges with the support of China’s complete industrial chain. These user-centric adjustments have helped Chinese refueling trucks gain a foothold in diverse global markets.
Cost-effectiveness is another key advantage attracting global buyers. Compared with international counterparts, Chinese aircraft refueling trucks offer comparable performance at a more reasonable price, while also reducing maintenance costs significantly. This cost advantage is particularly appealing to developing countries that are expanding their aviation infrastructure, helping them improve refueling efficiency without heavy investment.
Strong policy support and mature industrial collaboration provide a solid foundation for exports. Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative and national policies promoting international capacity cooperation, Chinese manufacturers have explored innovative export models such as “cooperation with sister companies” and “borrowing platforms to go global”. Leveraging the integrated advantages of China National Aviation Fuel Group, manufacturers have established a comprehensive service system covering 24/7 emergency response, spare parts supply and professional training, ensuring timely and efficient after-sales support for overseas clients.
The export footprint of China’s aircraft refueling trucks continues to expand. Since 2018, when the first 22,000-liter tank refueling truck was exported to Mongolia, Chinese products have been delivered to Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Angola and other countries, serving major airports including Almaty International Airport and Siem Reap Airport. With the continuous advancement of new quality productive forces and the deepening of global aviation cooperation, China’s aircraft refueling trucks are expected to further penetrate international markets, contributing to the global development of the aviation ground support industry.
